Turn to local library to help find job leads

Local library resource

Your local library can be a great help in your job search. Most libraries offer free computer and internet access, as well as access to a wealth of information on their own websites.

For example, the Contra Costa Library Online offers:

  • Access to over $20,000 in subscription databases available online 24/7, plus lots more for FREE. All you need is an e-card to get started.
  • Business & Company Resource Center: A comprehensive research tool including a company directory based on Gale’s Business Directory of U.S. Private & Public Companies
  • Encyclopedia of Associations and the National Directory of Non-Profit Organizations.
  • Learn how to start, finance or manage your small business: Resources include small business plans, how-to guides, articles and websites.
  • Plus lots more!

Your local librarian can be helpful in developing your list of 100 companies to pursue should they be more of a challenge to find. The librarian can also help by pointing you in the right direction regarding other job hunting resources available from the libraries online electronic databases, as well as at their branch.
