Working for a temporary employment agency may be an excellent way for those in reentry to reenter the workforce. Many agencies are eager and open to hiring those who have been previously incarcerated. And a few, including Adecco, have programs designed to help their employees improve various job-related skills.
Adecco, one of the world’s largest staffing agencies with operations in 62 countries, offers placements in both full-time and temporary positions. But taking temporary jobs may be the best way to gradually reenter the workforce, get experience with a variety of companies and develop knowledge and new skills.
And that’s where companies like Adecco come in.
Not only does Adecco provide those who qualify a temporary job – including manufacturing, transportation, retail and clerical positions – the company also offers a program it calls Aspire Academy.
Aspire Academy can help you develop skills
Through its Adecco Group US Foundation, the company offers free access to more than 3,000 Aspire Academy online courses that can help its employees succeed.
These courses offer personalized learning paths covering a vast array of subjects ranging from basic machinist knowledge and blueprint reading to emotional intelligence and project management.
What it takes to participate
Employees are eligible to enroll in the program a week after they complete the company’s onboarding process. The onboarding process basically involves filling in all the paperwork and providing identification. You don’t have to be on assignment to participate in Aspire Academy. But you do need to be active in the company’s database. That means you must be working on a company assignment or actively looking for one.
Those who complete a certain lesson or group of lessons will receive a virtual skills badge that will provide proof of their accomplishment.
To apply to work for Adecco, contact your local Adecco branch office. There are more than 300 locations across the U.S., so check to see if there is one in your area.
